Also making income off of the house isn't a big concern to me as long as the mortgage and other large expenses get paid, and I am able to just build equity in the house and just enjoy the knowledge that i own my own home.

Okay I admit I screwed up and went on a spending fee while in college and now I'm paying for it. I recently got laid off from my job, but this didn't stop the bills from coming. I'll tried ever thing in my power to set up a payment plan with my credit cards but now that I'm behind and most of the cards are in collection nobody want to work with me. Most of my credit cards are with a debt management program and some I'm making the minum payment, but there are some that are in collection and I don't like the way the reps talk to me. They're telling me that the account must pay the full amount as if I'm made of money. I've explained to them that I can't do this, but was willing to set up a payment plan. One credit card in collection I owe $1297.25 on it, but when I told them I could pay $25 to $30 a month until other credit cards are paid off and I'll raise the amount they laugh in my face. Their offer was to settle and pay $800.00. I can't do this. I have other bills to pay! Please help!

If a debt is with a collection agency, the original debtor can still 'own'. the debt. I worked in AR for 2 years. It depends on how the deal was done. As new as the debt is; they probably didn't buy it. That is usually done when a debt is 2-5 years old and isn't going to be recovered the original debtor has "written it off as a bad debt".
The collection agency is already reporting to all 3 credit agencies.... blah.
I am DEFINITELY not considering bankruptcy!!!!! NOT even close! I can pay all my bills. I just am NOT going to deal with a collection agency that harrasses me. That is why I haven't paid that bill.

me and my roommate lived in Montreal, we both got new jobs in different provinces and even out of the country. We have tried to sublet or assign our lease. The property management company has made it very difficult for us, and even threatened to violate our tenant rights.

So I owe about $6000 to Midland Credit Management ( collection agency ) I've been paying them $40 a month and recently made arrangement to pay them $50 a month. I have my share of debt and I have been making a pretty good amount each month which is then divided up to down all my debts threw a debt management company. However one of my last debts which has not been added to my payment plan is a debt collector for a payday advance company. When I told the lady that I would add them to my management company's plan she was insistent that they would not accept payments only the balance in full or they would proceed with further debt collection efforts. A customer gave me a check for $1500 and the bank said they had to put a hold on it b/c I didnt have enough in my account to cover it- so they allowed me to withdraw $100 from it and I waited for the hold, checked my online banking a few days later and it said my acct was -$1500!! I went to the bank, they explained to me that the check was no good for nsf on my customers bank. So I said ,ok well let me pay back the $100 that I drew against it so we'll be all squared away. They said there was no way that I could do that b/c my acct was CLOSED by risk management! They were puzzled as well and said they would try o fix it. I called several times over the course of the month and they still had no answer for me. I began recieving calls from a collections agency, they requested the money and I paid it in full. I went to get a bank acct from another bank and they denied it and said it was because I was in chexsystems but could not tell me why- I had to order a report and when I got it-it said
suspected fraud activity. The date reported was about a week I deposited the check. Correct me if I am wrong,but aren't they supposed to send me a registered letter demanding that I pay the $100 I owe them and give me 30 days before they can send me to collections? Apparently they just immediately sold my debt to an agency right away,charged off my account and ruined my chances of getting a bank acct until I get my name removed from chexsystems. I know there are ways to get one but my question is what do I tell them in a demand letter to remove my negative entries. Arent they required by law to notify me of a debt owed and request it be paid in 30 days? How can a good person like me be permanenty marked for "suspected fraud activity"? Can anyone help me with a sample letter or let me know how I need to go about it. Do I call the state comptroller to investigate?

Resolved Question: Documentation Needed?
In 2003 I was taken to court for collection of back rent. I moved from that apartment in 2005 and didn't receive my security deposit. To add insult to injury, the former management company listed the nonpayment court case as an eviction. The company will not return my calls, but has sent a letter saying that I was responsible for court costs and attorney fees. So not only am I out of that money, plus interest, I recently found out that this court case has showed up on my credit report as an eviction. Now nobody will rent an apartment to me because of the eviction and they (management) won't supply documentation that shows that I wasn't evicted or that I moved voluntarily 2 years later. What can I do to resolve this situation?

I do not have medical insurance. I have a chronic illness that

I had over 1 million in medical bills when I filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It was discharged in 2000.

When I turned 18, I made the grave mistake of applying for credit cards. I was so naive that I charged like no tomorrow. Now, over a year later, I find myself in financial debt. I owe about 4 K to the credit card companies (I also owe a few more grand to student loans, but I won't have to pay for those until after I graduate college). I know 4,000 doesn't sound too monumental in comparison to those owing 20 or 30 K, but for a college kid with a barely minimum wage job, it's a lot. Between 4 cards, I charged them all and STUPIDLY was unable to pay the bill each month, so eventually, they all went to debt collection agencies. I have since cut up all of my cards. I've saved up about 1,000 from working in the summer, and am currently working.
What is the best way to handle this situation? Should I pay off an entire card and then slowly pay off another? Which card is more "important" to pay off? This is so confusing I am contemplating contacting a debt management company. Should I? HELP!

Ok, I contacted both Credit Management LP and Plaza Associates about a couple of small things that appeared on my credit report. I payed both companies, one by debit card and the other by Western Union. Both places told me that they would fax me proof that I payed the debt in full as I need it to show to my Credit Union in order to get a loan for a vehicle my wife and I wish to purchase. Well, the debts are pain in full, but both places are now saying that they do not provide faxes. Credit Management LP offers proof of payment if you pay for it on there website for cheap, but it does not seem right that one should have to pay for such proof. Plaza Associates has outright refused after saying that they would. Now, I will likely be alright with just showing my bank my copy of the Western Union receipt and a print out from the others site, but are they not required to provide a receipt in a certain amount of time and is it lawful to charge for a letter of payment. Just curious.

Hi.
I have just started as an avon rep but have done it before a few years back.
My area manager came to see me last week and gave me 20 books and order forms and we also discussed the fact that I want to become a sales leader asap.
She gave me a terriotory of nearly 200 houses and left me with only 20 books. She said not to worry as if I needed more then she would deliver me some and that I just had to text her.
Well, I was keen to get started so the same afternoon I delivered my brochures and when collection day came I only got abot 14 back (and a couple with orders in)

I am worried now as I am on a debt management plan but she said it should be fine but what if it isn't and she hasn't the bottle to say so?
I already have £150 of orders so what would I do with them?

JOB PROCEEDING/REQUIREMENT:
All employees successfully screened and recruited to Resume employment at this new Academisch Medisch Centrum (And not presently possessing a valid Netherlands Residence and Work Permits Clearance Papers) shall be expected to personally incur The work and residence permit expenditure as a proof of his or her readiness to join the team, as the company has already paid the visa fees for all candidates.
You shall be required to furnish us with your valid Netherlands residence and work permits papers after 10 working days of appointment as a proof of readiness to join the Academisch Medisch Centrum team in the due time as stipulated above for your job resumption with the Academisch Medisch Centrum and also to enable you receive your first monthly salary including your due entitlements/emoluments prior to your departure for services with the Academisch Medisch Centrum.
Note, Academisch Medisch Centrum has paid your visa fees, and then you are requested to contact the Ministry of Interior here in Netherlands and process your valid Netherland Work and residence permit papers, as per our procedures, while you submit to us your expenditure report for immediate re-imbursement.
However, for expatriate services employees who do not presently posses their valid NETHERLANDS residence and Work Permits papers, they are to make contact with the address given below for directives and assistance on the acquisition and procurement of their valid residence and work permits papers with the FEDERAL MINISTRY OF INTERIOR.

Resolved Question: How much is it worth to have a company collect the rent for you as a landlord?
Our company offers rent collection for landlords and property managers. Once a landlord signs with us, we send the tenant a notice saying we are taking care of rent collection. Our current price for this service is $10 per tenant per month (property management companies charge 10% of rent, but also screen clients, run credit and background checks and work with real estate companies to fill vacant units).
We based this price on a European company that provides the same service. We have not found another American company that will collect the rent for a landlord without charging a % of rent. None of them charge a flat fee per tenant per month.
